A Thousand Miles from Home

March 31st, 2008

Well, I finally crossed the thousand-mile mark on the TransAmerica trail! One thousand miles. Holy cow. I started logging my miles on this site in July 2006.

Spent most of the weekend in Syracuse, helping Leah pack up her apartment. She’s movin’ on up to a gorgeous three-bedroom in a beautiful neighborhood in the ‘Cuse. We laughed so much and so hard, I felt like I did hundreds of sit-ups. Good times! Here’s a picture of Hayner hanging out with a massive pile of clothes:

So what did I learn this weekend? Don’t spend several hours hauling heavy boxes down a flight of stairs and out to the parking lot and then come home and walk 8 miles. Not a good idea! The race is one month from Saturday, though, so the miles had to be done. And they were. Now pardon me while I go sleep under my desk!

This Is Spring?

It’s March 28th. It’s spring. And this is the view outside my window:

I’m going back to Dallas! :-)

Still Wanted

Woo hoo! Fox announced today that Prison Break is coming back for a fourth season. I couldn’t be happier! Twenty-two more episodes of Lincoln, Michael, Mahone, Sucre… This article talks about how the show will be moving production from Dallas to Los Angeles. Dang it! Well, at least Justin got to meet Dominic Purcell (even if he didn’t know it at the time).

Hoppin’ Down the Bunny Trail

March 23rd, 2008

Happy Easter! Spent the day with the family in Penn Yan. Here are a few photos to commemorate the day. First, a close-up of some jellybeans:

Next, tulips that Jennie brought to Mom and Dad as an Easter gift. My second favorite flower, after hyacinth.

Next we have a surprise guest appearance by Aaron (with Jennie – they barely fit in the frame together!):

And finally, possibly the best picture ever of Grandpa, showing us the proper way to wear a baseball cap… incomplete without the thug snarl!

Cat Laundromat

March 21st, 2008

Took the afternoon off to do some shopping and catch up on stuff around the house, including laundry. Here’s a shot of Chavo helping:

And in totally unrelated news, a huge chunk of the Buffy cast got together for some event that I won’t elaborate on because I didn’t get to be there and I’m totally bitter. Ha! Seriously, this would have been the event of a Buffy-lover’s lifetime. Sigh. Here’s a picture:

Spike’s hair is scarier than any vampire could be! And this would be a fine time to include a great Buffy quote, so here ya go:

Xander: This is a question that no one particularly wants to hear but… where did they put his head?

Proud

The title of this post is from the theme to The Biggest Loser:

What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It’s never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?

Birthday Wishes (Some Belated)

March 17th, 2008

Okay, now that the blog is up and running again, there is a bit of business to attend to. Birthdays! My friends Justin and Cory both celebrated on the Ides of March, and Aunt Tracy celebrated today. Cheers to you all!

Do I Have To Do This All Over Again?

March 17th, 2008

Okay, so the old blog is history. We’re starting fresh! All photo albums are still available; you can see them here (and my older pictures are on Flickr, here).

A bit of business for all my faithful readers: you’re going to have to re-register to comment again. But this will be good news to those of you who can’t seem to remember your passwords!

My old posts are all gone, but – great timing! – Lisa just uploaded her pictures from our night out at the Down Under in Dallas. Check them out here. Many, many great photos of Q making fun faces!

When I was down in the Big D, I came across a t-shirt I totally loved, but the store didn’t have it in my size. I found a similar one online, and it arrived on Friday night (the night of the death of the old Font of Nothing, as a matter of fact). Check it out:

(For the record, my current average pace is 13:03 per mile. Try to keep up!) It came wrapped in tissue paper and tied with ribbon, and there was even a hand-written, personalized note on the invoice. This company, One More Mile Running, has a customer for life!

The title of this post comes from a Monkees song:

Do I have to do this all over again?
Didn’t I do it right the first time?
Do I have to do this all over again?
How many times do I have to make this climb?
Didn’t I? Didn’t I?

Still playing around with the look of the site… Let me know what you think!

Oops

March 15th, 2008

Um, I broke my blog. Trying to figure out how to get it back, or if I’m going to start from scratch. Yikes!
